Greensburg Kansas - The rebuilding of a Kansas Town
Greensburg Kansas
The rebuilding of A Kansas Town
As a Kansas resident I have a special interest in what goes on in my fair State. As I have said in prior blogs I am saddened by what happened in Greensburg. I have lived in the area and shopped in the stores. I am intimately familiar with the city and the people there.
With that said I am pleased to report that at least some one in this fair shell of the city, has begun to take down the balloons from the pity party and begin to use their heads and hands for more than just sucking up sympathy and whining between church services which make for excellent press and serve no other purpose at all.
I would like to point to Kim Gamble, (Greensburg Farmer and Business Owner) – Scott Brown (Greensburg Auction house Owner)- Erica Goodman (Antique Dealer in Greensburg), and John Janssen (Greensburg City Council Member). These folks are planning and scheming and meeting. A National Tornado Museum and Memorial to the dead. These people realize that rubberneckers, busy bodys, and tourists are wanting to see the wreckage and carnage of the Girls Gone Wild of Mother Nature, that being the Greensburg Twister. And these people are ready to show it to them for a fee.
Call it cynical or call it crass or just call it life. It's a brilliant plan and I hope they can get it off.
Greensburg, like Pratt, Kinsley, Kingmen, and almost every other small rural Kansas community was on it's way out. There is no money in the Ag Business unless you are corporate and I am so pleased that some folks are able to dry their tears and see this for the opportunity that it is.
The article that I read in the Wichita Paper http://www.kansas.com/233/story/71208.html even suggested leaving one block of the city in its ravaged state as a testament to natures wrath. Brilliant!!
I also want to comment that in the same paper the same old organizations are asking for the same old thing. Your Money !
I am very skeptical of the Red Cross, The United Way, and all of these front organizations that support the unemployed, welfare mothers, and other riff-raff and free loaders. My taxes support these societal parasites and I find it offensive, larcenous, and misleading for these organizations to solicit funds in the name of Greensburg with intentions of re-directing these funds to any where else or to any other project. Look at the twin towers or Katrina, who knows what happened to this money.
It's a good idea to give, and G*d knows Greensburg can use the help but I would like to see the people of this State and Nation use their heads along with the hearts and wallets and make damn sure that your donations go to Greensburg. Try to find a way to send your Money to Greensburg, contact a Pastor or City Council Member and tell them you want to give to the city and re-building effort and that's all. Search for a written assurance that your funds will not be misappropriated.
I believe it and I'll publish it. The Red Cross, and United Way, and Salvation Army are huge Government Supported Con Artists, who are filling their coffers from the blood tears and sweat of National Disasters. I would like to challenge them to tell the American People while under oath that every penny of the money from Sept 11th went to the victims. If they can't or won't do it than they are liars and thieves. Just think about it the next time your accosted by one of the organized crime gangs.
As Always this has been a blast and I look forward to doing it again.
